Acclaimed Director Saumitra Singh and narrative creator Abhi Raj Sharma have joined forces with producer Shaz Memon to create a documentary titled 'No Water Land'. This film seeks to highlight the challenging circumstances faced by young girls forced to choose between sustaining their lives and pursuing education for a brighter future.

Saumitra Singh, a vibrant and rising director, recently announced his new documentary project 'No Water Land'. The film portrays the inspiring real-life journey of UK philanthropist Shaz Memon and his relentless work through his NGO 'Wells on Wheels'. The organization focuses on promoting the wellbeing and education of young girls in Maharashtra who have been denied essential education due to the necessity of collecting water for their families.

Shaz Memon, the film's producer, expressed his concern for children who have dreams but lack the opportunities to chase them. He specifically focused on young girls in rural India who are caught in the relentless cycle of fetching water. Their sacrifices extend beyond lost childhoods and self-inflicted health problems. For many, carrying water is a non-negotiable obligation due to their conditions, compelling them to forgo their education. Memon describes this situation as an enormous burden for any innocent young child.

Moved by the heartrending stories of the girls who have to trek twice daily for 3-4 kilometers carrying heavy water pots, Saumitra Singh decided to share their plight with the world. He was astonished to discover these circumstances happening so close to a major city like Mumbai, just 150 kilometers away.

Currently, the project is in its pre-production phase, with Saumitra and his team having completed location scouting. Saumitra expressed gratitude to Sanjay Kapoor for referring him to the project's creators and for his role as the brand ambassador of 'Wells on Wheels'. Saumitra, who recently completed a feature film with Kapoor, appreciated his guidance and that of Shaz Memon and the 'Wells on Wheels' team from Nashik.

The production of 'No Water Land' will be carried out by Shaz Memon's NGO 'Wells on Wheels', in collaboration with Shukar Studios and Shiprartz. The documentary will be directed by Saumitra Singh, with Hasan Khan involved as an Executive Producer. Abhi Raj Sharma has pledged to construct the narrative focusing on the young girls' adversity.

Saumitra Singh, known for his first short film 'The Wallet' featuring Naseeruddin Shah, which garnered over 70 awards, is also eagerly anticipating the launch of his upcoming films 'Taxi No 24' featuring Mahesh Manjrekar, and 'The House of Lies' with Sanjay Kapoor.
